How to Apply Permanent Discounts to Clients

Assign service and product discounts to an individual client so the correct discount applies automatically in Salon Manager.

How to apply permanent client discounts

Follow these steps to assign separate service and product discounts to the client.

1Open Salon ManagerSign in and open the Salon Manager application.
2Find the clientSearch for the client who should receive a permanent discount.
3Open the client recordOpen the client’s appointment or record card.
4Select Edit ClientChoose Edit Client at the bottom left.
5Open the settings screenWait for the client settings screen to load.
6Scroll to the bottomMove to the lower section of the client settings page.
7Find Settings & switchesLocate the Settings & switches section.
8Find the discount fieldsLocate Service Discounts and Product Discounts on the bottom right.
9Choose a service discountSelect the relevant permanent service discount, when required.
10Choose a product discountSelect the relevant permanent product discount, when required.
11Review the selectionsCheck that the correct discount options have been chosen.
12Save the clientSelect Update Client to save the settings.
13Confirm automatic discountsThe selected discounts will now apply automatically to eligible services or products.

Useful tips

Check the discount type before saving

Make sure the correct client record is open before applying a permanent discount.
Use Service Discounts for treatments and appointments.
Use Product Discounts for retail purchases.
Check that the chosen discount is the one the client should receive every time.
Always select Update Client so the settings are saved.

Troubleshooting

Common issues and what to check

The Edit Client button is not visible

Make sure the client’s appointment or record card is open. Edit Client appears at the bottom left.

The discount options are not visible

Scroll to Settings & switches. The Service Discounts and Product Discounts fields are on the bottom right.

The discount I need is not available

Check that the discount has already been created in Salon Manager before assigning it to the client.

The discount did not save

Make sure you selected Update Client after choosing the discount.

The discount is not applying automatically

Reopen the client record, confirm the correct service or product discount is selected, then select Update Client.

Permanent client discount questions

Can I apply a permanent discount to a client?

Open the client record, select Edit Client, choose the relevant discount in Settings & switches, then select Update Client.

Where are the client discount settings?

They are at the bottom of the client settings screen in Settings & switches.

Can I apply discounts to services and products?

Yes. Service discounts and product discounts can be selected separately.

Will the discount apply automatically?

Yes. Once saved, the relevant discount applies automatically when the client has an eligible service or buys an eligible product.

Can I change the discount later?

Open the client record again, select Edit Client, update the discount options and select Update Client.
